The rains from Hurricane Rafael have begun in Bermuda this afternoon. The center of the hurricane is located about 195 miles south of Bermuda, moving toward the north-northeast at 23 mph.

A Tropical Storm Warning continues for Bermuda. Tropical storm conditions are expected to begin this afternoon or evening. Sustained hurricane-force winds are not expected on the island as the center of Rafael passes east of Bermuda this evening.

Maximum sustained winds are 85 mph, a Category One hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Slow weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
