Earlier this morning, I took a little test to get an idea of my Life Expectancy.  I had read an article earlier in the week that the current life expectancy is around 71 years of age.  After taking a little online test (and to be honest, I don’t put much faith in online tests that take certain perimeters to come up with a certain outcome…  Example: Gauging my height and weight to tell me whether or not I am overweight, UGH….I hate that.) it was determined that “my” estimated life expectancy was 95! GULP.  It said that I have a 75% chance that I would be older than 86, which is 9.6 years greater than other people my current age.  (See below, and tick on the image to take the same test).

This being said, I started to pull out the calculator and realized that I had been alive for approximately, 17,724 days, or 2,532 weeks, in other words 582.29 months.  That was not as important…as knowing how much time I have hear on earth from today.

I know we are to live our life like it could be our last day, and I believe that in a sense because I have lost people in my life, and I am sure they did not have that date on their calendar.  I want to have “experiences” with my wife (Becky) and my boys (Dylan & Ryan).  I want to do things with them, that they will remember forever.  I want to go places and experience those places with them.  I want to go places with just Becky, so we can reconnect.  Life is short….so start crossing things off of your Bucket List (or Life List) now.

When we decided to move to Bermuda in 2007, we then decided that we would not wait till our so called Retirement, to live our life.  We were going to do it now.  We were going to live in a new place, do our best to travel to new places every year!   One of our Spencer Family Mottos is, “Once a year go someplace you have never been.”  My other personal motto is “Live like you are on vacation.”  (At least ‘I’ wanted to “Live like I am on vacation.”)

So…I did so some calculations. I used the age 86 years, and if I do live to 95….well, there are 9.6 years I have as a bonus to spend with my boys, my grand kids…and possibly great grand kids.

So if I am going to live until 86, I only have the following left on this earth;

  • 37 years & 5 months
  • 13,687 Days
  • 1955 weeks
  • 328,488 hours
  • 19,709,280 minutes

I just used a standard Time & Date Online Calculator.

As Andy Dufresne (aka Tim Robbins), said to “Red” Redding (aka Morgan Freeman) in the Shawshank Redempton, “Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying”.
